Media Fireside Chat on School Garden and Outdoor Learning Spaces, Pandemic Impact
April 27 from 11 a.m. to noon (PT)
April is National Gardening Month. To celebrate and to spotlight the power of school gardens in youth education and social-emotional wellness, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation is hosting a media fireside chat, featuring leaders and voices from the frontlines of the school garden movement. This chat for media, nonprofits, and government leaders will take place after an educational PSA broadcast centered around outdoor learning programs for more than 500 schools.
During the hour, the panel will feature critical conversations and youth perspectives highlighting the value of school garden education, including:
- How school garden programs have shifted during COVID
- Research on school garden impact (children’s vegetable intake; type 2 diabetes risks and academic performance improvement)
- Social emotional wellness
- Teacher/academic empowerment

About the Media Panel Experience
